I, Sidney Kraizman, am a special education lawyer. From my offices in Detroit and Royal Oak, I assist families throughout Michigan. The focus of my practice is on helping children with their special education needs, including learning disabilities and school disciplinary actions. Criminal defense law is also a part of my practice.
I have experience protecting children with disabilities across Michigan with a focus on special education law. The federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 2004, protects the rights of students with disabilities. My firm handles cases for students with a variety of disabilities. One disorder that continues to affect families is autism. I have helped a number of families who have children with autism, making sure they get the protection and special services they deserve.

I was a special education hearing officer. I was also a special education state review officer for the Michigan Department of Education. Having handled numerous special education due process matters and hearings, I am ready to help you with all of your concerns.
As a state review officer I issued a landmark decision for Michigan that a child with downs- syndrome had a right to be included full time in a regular education kindergarten classroom with appropriate support.
Criminal Law
I also handle criminal law cases for individuals throughout Michigan, including juveniles and adults with special needs and parents who have been charged with criminal truancy. From minor infractions and misdemeanors to serious felonies such as white collar crimes, I provide effective criminal defense in both state and federal courts.
