I, Sidney Kraizman, am a special education lawyer. From my offices in Detroit and Royal Oak, I assist families throughout Michigan. I have experience protecting children with disabilities across Michigan with a focus on special education law. The federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 2004, protects the rights of students with disabilities. My firm handles cases for students with a variety of disabilities. One disorder that continues to affect families is autism. I have helped a number of families who have children with autism, making sure they get the protection and special services they deserve.
I also protect the rights of children facing expulsion and school disciplinary action, whether or not special needs concerns are a factor.

I was a special education hearing officer. I was also a special education state review officer for the Michigan Department of Education. Having handled numerous special education due process matters and hearings, I am ready to help you with all of your concerns.
As a state review officer I issued a landmark decision for Michigan that a child with downs syndrome had a right to be included full time in a regular education kindergarden classroom with appropriate support.
Criminal Law
I also handle criminal law cases for individuals throughout Michigan, including juveniles and adults with special needs. From minor infractions and misdemeanors, to serious felonies, I handle criminal defense cases in state and federal courts.
